While your mares are at Keen Farms they will be turned out in large grassy paddocks that are seeded with rye grass and oats to stay green and nutritional all winter long. They are fed a top quality grain twice a day and have 24 hour access to timothy alfalfa hay. Our paddocks are safe and not over crowded or over grazed.
As mares get close to their foaling time they are moved into stalls and monitored by cameras 24 hours a day. These cameras are internet accessible and can be remotely logged in to from anywhere in the world. We can make you a dvd of your foals birth and first steps. Foals are closely monitored by our full time live in staff.
When foals are strong and healthy they are turned out with their mothers in small groups with other foals their age. They have lots of room to run and play and the mares have lots of green grass to nibble on. Mares are fed a high protein grain, hay, and supplements to help them produce the healthiest foals possible as well as prepare them to carry again.
Once mares have been weaned from their foals they are turned out in a large paddock with a pond so they can enjoy their foal free summers. If a mare is staying on with us after breeding to a Keen Farms stallion we offer discounts on day rates.
