The Keen Tack Collar allows you to train your horse to ride without a bridle.  This fancy collar has conchos on the outside and small studs on the inside of the collar that kindly encourage your horse to neck rein and stop.  Horses do require extensive training before the Keen Tack Collar should be used alone.

$125.00

The 4 horses shown riding with the collar are;  Right: Wyatt, an 8 year old racetrack pony rescued from a killer sale as a two year old.  Bottom left: Apacheblueboy, a 10 year old paint gelding with roping and outriding experience.  Middle: Little Joe's Gold, a 7 year old quarter horse used as a racetrack pony.   Bottom Right:  Lights On Broadway, 12 year old Texas Horse of the Year and 13th all time leading thoroughbred money earner in Texas also rescued from slaughter.

Keen Western Training Reins

Keen Western Training Reins are the only reins you will need when starting young horses.  These reins are great for teaching your horse a perfect head set while softening the mouth at the same time.  You will be able to teach your horse to bend, side pass, and back up in the correct form and without resistance from your horse.  The reins can be used with a yolk as shown here or simply clipped to a breast collar.  They are adjustable for any size horse.

Reins $60.00

Reins with yolk $95.00

Shown on the right with the training reins is Texas Horse of the Year, Lights On Broadway.  He is currently being retrained as a stable pony for Dallas Keen Racing Stables.

Keen Training Martingale

Keen Training Martingale with reins is used on racehorses in training instead of using standard rings.  They connect direct to the yolk just like rings do but work much better on a tough, hard pulling horse or a horse that has a tendency to flip or throw its head while training at the track.   Great tool for teaching young horses the correct form from the start and fully adjustable for different size horses.

Keen Driving Reins

Driving Reins are made 18 foot long and are very easy to handle when run through a surcingle.  Great for starting horses and teaching them the basic skills needed before putting a rider on their back for the first time.  Driving horses in a round pen or arena before the first mount will make training easier for you and your horse.  You can use a single rein for a lunge line and they can be ordered in different lengths.    The Keen Driving Reins will never need oiling.  Warm water and a cloth will keep them looking new as long as you have them.

Corky Keen
Corky and Dallas Keen
With Dallas' ideas and Corky's superior workmanship this father and son team put their lifetime of  horsemanship skills to work developing equipment for other horse trainers and novices alike.

Third generation racehorse trainer Dallas Keen has come up with many ideas to improve the handling of horses in his stable by using quality leads, shanks, bridles and bride reins.  "We save hundreds of dollars a year by using equipment that lasts and lasts with very little maintenance and that never needs oiling.  Horses are safer when being handled with a shank that unlike leather will not crack or break.  Our bridle reins are stronger and will last longer than any leather rein on the market."

Donna Keen has also had a lifetime of experience training in many different disciplines.  "The western reins are great for starting young horses and for retraining horses that are retiring from racing and need to learn new skills to be riding companions.  All the horses that come into our Remember Me Rescue program have been retrained using the Keen Training Reins to soften their mouths and learn to neck rein, side pass and back up."
